Why is saturated fat bad for you?

Fat and oils are technically triglycerides. Triglycerides are composed of individual molecules called fatty acids. Each triglycerides molecule consists of three fatty acids.

There are three categories of fatty acids: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. All oils and fats consist of a mixture of these categories of fatty acids.

A high intake of saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol produced in the liver and therefore the amount in the blood. A high level of cholesterol in the blood is associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease.

The major sources of saturated fat such as cooking fats, margarine, fatty meat, full fat milk, cheese, chips, biscuits, pastries and sweets contribute to the cholesterol content of your diet and it is highly recommended to eat less fat and fatty foods.

The reason that coconut oil does not adversely affect cholesterol is due to the fact that these medium chain triglycerides that are contained in saturated fat of coconut oil are burned immediately and do not converted into body fat or cholesterol therefore do not affect blood cholesterol levels.

Copra is made by drying coconut in the sun, smoking and heating it. During the production process, chemicals are used and the oils are heated to high temperatures where they can form of a certain percentage of trans-fatty acids, which contribute to arteriosclerosis, heart disease and diabetes. Because this coconut oil is produced with high temperatures and chemicals, its taste becomes bland with a composition of about 3-4% of Lauric Acid. RBD Coconut oil is widely used in the Far East as a cheap cooking oil.

There are also two more types of coconut oil: expeller pressed coconut oil at higher temperature, which is refined or semi-refined coconut oil and virgin coconut oil.

During production, TIANA Organic Virgin Coconut Oil goes though a minimum of four Quality Control Inspection Tests before the product is released for packing which is a unique way of production designed to ensure the best quality oil in the world.

The Quality Control Inspection Tests are as follows;
1st Quality Control Inspection Test is to guarantee that all coconuts are deemed to be fresh, mature and de-husked.

2nd Quality Control Inspection Test is due after removing brown kernels and the water inside the white coconut meat by paring following which, coconut meat is washed by water at high pressure and cut into small pieces.

The 3rd Quality Control Inspection Test takes place after the coconut meat is cold pressed, using only the most sophisticated stainless steel equipment.

The product then goes through the process of filtration, guaranteeing the removal of all oil residues.
