Raw Coconut Water from green coconuts -vs- from concentrate
If it comes from fresh young coconuts will have a slightly cloudy appearance whereas from concentrate will be looking more transparent. This is because it is often diluted to varying proportions.
Around 80% of coconut water worldwide is made from a concentrated juice. That liquid is obtained from old mature coconuts, where its white flesh has become a thick layer and a lot of important nutrients will have been transferred from the water into white flesh.
This drink is different because it is straight from the young and green. It is a super-fast, hydrating juice that contains important minerals and vitamins and a great taste.
About green coconuts
Coconut water develops inside a young green coconut, simply slicing it open and you will get it. When they are young, they’re completely filled with water and have very little white flesh. At this stage, both water and flesh are naturally very sweet. Then they reach full size at about 6-7 months old and mature at 10-12 months. The best nutrition and quantity is obtained at 6-7 months old, when a single one contains up to 480 ml.
At about 10-12 months coconuts mature, fully ripe coconuts have only a small amount of water and a thicker white flesh layer inside. When it is ripe, both flesh and water become less sweet. In young coconuts most of the sugar is in the form of glucose and fructose. The water from young fresh coconuts is essentially fat free. In ripe coconuts the sugar is predominately sucrose whereas protein and fat content is increased. Our drink has none of this:
